Built for Melbourne weather

Chosen to avoid the four things that usually shorten an awning's life.

  • Fading

Sauleda acrylic is made for awnings: it blocks up to 98% of UV and resists fading, and it carries a 3-year fade warranty.

  • Mould

Acrylic sheds water rather than holding it, and the cassette closes the fabric away dry. Clear leaves and pooled water and it stays that way.

  • Sagging

Thickened stainless steel chain-link arms hold the fabric drum-tight across the full projection, so it does not belly or pool.

  • Rattling

Retracted, the front bar closes into the sealed cassette. Nothing is left hanging to catch a gust and knock against the wall.

More of the day outside

Shade at midday, light in the evening, from one unit on the wall.

  • Take the deck back from the sun. The acrylic fabric blocks up to 98% of UV, so the space under it is usable at midday in January rather than only before ten and after four.

  • It does not close at sunset. The LED strip runs along the front bar, so the table is lit without string lights, extension leads or anything else to trip over.

Fit it yourself, or have a tradie do it.

The AW01 arrives assembled and bench-tested. Installation is two wall brackets, a lift, and a power connection - a competent DIYer with a helper can do it in an afternoon, or your own tradesperson can. Everything they need is in the manual and the two guides below.

Two people and an afternoon

Mark the wall, fix two brackets, lift the cassette on and clip it in. Two people for the lift, three if it is over 4 m wide. Fixings are supplied.

Any solid wall, with the right anchor

Concrete, solid brick and structural timber take the supplied anchors directly. Hollow or cavity brick uses a chemical anchor with a sleeve, and rendered or clad walls fix through to the structure behind - standard practice for any installer, and any hardware store stocks the parts.

Brackets go where the arms are

Bracket positions are set by the arm bases for your width, 6.5 cm in from each end of the cassette. Set them level and the rest follows.

Power by a licensed electrician

The motor is 240 V AC, so the electrical connection is done by a licensed electrician - a short job once the unit is on the wall. Everything else on the install is yours to do.
